ENRIQUE MESTRE JAIME
Enrique Mestre Jaime was born in Barcelona in 1968. He studied Fine Arts at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Barcelona, specialising in Painting. The painter lives and works in the Balearic Islands where he has his studio on the small island of Menorca. He regularly exhibits in various art galleries in Spain and France, where he has been represented by Galerie 22 since 2013.
The artist has always been inspired by nature, the Mediterranean Sea or travels, where he has found many of his iconographies that populate his series of paintings. He has always been interested in human geography and landscape, and in Enrique Mestre Jaime’s painting one can also read an interest in ecology, in the protection of nature and also in water, this element so important in the planet…water is one of the constant iconographies in his work during the last years, either in the form of river, fountain, fish, ocean or monsoon…
This artist enjoys working with mixed media (acrylic, oil, collage…) on canvas, paper or leather, as well as engraving and illustration. He works very little with black and white, with him it is always the strength of the colour that is the protagonist.
