Dépôt de carbone |
It is the deposit of carbon from a flame that will give "body" to what Etienne Gros has called "smoke".
He can use the flame of a candle or an oil lamp. In an unpredictable way, with an extreme lightness and softness but also a great fragility, forms will be deposited on the white sheet of paper.
No brushes, pencils or anything else that might resemble the painter's accessories are used. He draws with the wisps of smoke and lets himself be amazed by the randomness that the flame offers him.
Like Aladdin, he releases the genies of his lamps and takes us far, far away, into an ancestral world.
